70-Volt Connectors – Examples
Below are some of the connectors used for installing 70-Volt speakers. Bell Crimps are easy to use and come in different sizes (you will need different sizes to accommodate multiple cable connections). The Scotchlock connectors are more expensive but are “Gel” filled and provide weather and heat resistance (mainly used for outdoor speaker installations). There are many other types of connectors used for 70-Volt connections but these are the main ones that I have experience with. Whatever you do – Do Not use “Wire Nuts” for 70-Volt connections as these are not recommended for this type of installation.
Note: Do not use Wire Nuts for any type of 70-Volt wiring connections. It is best practice to only use crimp type connectors or gel filled connectors. Wire nuts are for electrical use and should not be considered for 70-Volt connections.
