Microphone and Speaker Stands and Accessories
Microphone stands are mainly available in two popular types: Rounded or Tripod Base, and they come in different sizes as well. I’m sure someone has come up with other types not mentioned here. There are so many accessories that can be attached to mic stands that I can’t even begin to start listing them here. I will include stands and booms that you should be familiar with as an Audio Technician.
There will be musicians and entertainers that have mic stand preferences. Ex: We had an Entertainer scheduled to perform, and they requested “two” mic stands. Simple enough, right? They asked for the “Rounded” bases, but the bases had to be the larger, heavier-sized round base version. They could not use the “Tripod” base type stands because they moved around the stage a lot, and it presented a trip hazard during the show.
Speaker Stands
Speaker Mount Adapter Whirlwind Speaker Stand Model# STNDSS Tripod Speaker stands utilize an “Adapter” that fits into the top part of the stand and will fit a Speaker with a Tripod Speaker Mount Adapter that has been fitted to the bottom of the speaker.
This is what the speaker mount adapter looks like on an actual speaker cabinet. The speaker mount not only accepts speaker stands, but also mounting poles that allow cabinets to be paired (such as a Subwoofer cabinet with a Full Range cabinet attached via the mounting pole). See example below.
